Oviedo

Oviedo Spain The County of Oviedo is located in the heart of Asturias and it is a capital of the Principality. Oviedo, is an elegant city with a rich cultural life. Mountainous range of the Picos da Europa (peaks of Europe),  shares landscape with neighbouring Cantabria Sea. Along with Aviles, Oviedo is a city that we would recommend any tourist to visit whilst in Asturias.

Gijon

Port in Gijon Gijon is located in a privileged location in the Asturian geography, a few minutes away from Oviedo and Avilés and thirty minutes away from the Asturian Airport and from the municipalities of the coalfields. With a history dating back to Roman times Gijon, originally called "Gigia", is on the Asturian coast and features one of Spain's largest shipping ports. The earliest records of Gijon can be found in the fifth century when a settlement developed at Campa Torres and then moved coastward to what is now the city’s thriving port.

Aviles

he Penas river is one of two rivers that run through the town. Aviles is situated on the Cantabria coast and just west of the centre of Asturias. Geographically Aviles runs longitudinally on a narrow and level stretch of land near the "Aviles' canyon" where it faces the Bay of Biscay to the north whilst sitting to the west of Cape Penas. The Penas river is one of two rivers that run through the town.

Cangas de Onis

Cangas de Onis - view from the roman bridge Cangas de Onis lies in very close to the popular tourist village of Covadonga, the scene of an historic battle, as well as being on the edge of the Picos de Europa mountains. It also has the town of Arriondas, an adventure sports center, just a few kilometres down the road. This town is especially well known for canoeing. The coast too is no more than half an hours drive away from Cangas de Onis and there are many interesting villages close by that you can explore without leaving the general area.

Covadonga

Covadonga, Asturias Spain Covadonga is located northwest of the mountain range Picos de Europa, in the heart of Asturias walking and hiking country. It is also very close to the tourist town of Cangas de Onis and is an absolute “must” to visit for all tourists coming to this area of Spain.

Put simply, if you vacation in Asturias and you do not visit Covadonga, many would say that you will have had a wasted journey.

Luarca

Luarca's harbour Luarca is a truly stunning fishing village on the north western coast of Asturias. Is one of 15 parroquias and the capital in the municipality of Valdes, in Asturias, Spain. Situated at an elevation of 110 m above sea level, it has a population arronud 6,000 people. Luarca's harbour is almost rectangular when viewed from over head and two sides are overlooked by neat terraces of three and four storey buildings. Nearly every harbour facing building in this quaint little town has a white rendered facade and a grey pan tiled roof and this gives Luarca an appearance that, whilst "old world", is still ordered and tidy.

Arenas de Cabrales

The Arenas de Cabrales Valley The Arenas de Cabrales Valley and the surrounding hillsides are famous throughout Spain for the strong blue cheese made here; cabrales. If you’ve been underwhelmed by Spanish cheeses so far, you’re in for a treat. Not for nothing is the stuff known as the ‘Spanish Roquefort’; it shares many similarities in taste and production methods with that classic French blue cheese. It’s made from cows’ milk, often with a percentage of sheep or goat milk added, and is matured in damp caves, where the bacteria that give it its sharp taste and distinctive colour develop.
